Dr,
I posted this in another thread for building a Knight character. If your planning to do MP instead of the solo game, you'll need to forge some more items than the plain stuff I list here (other than you keep the Elven Helm).
When I build my Knight character I focus almost exclusively on putting my skill points into Morale.
The reason is that Morale is the only skill in the game that does not suffer from the law of diminishing returns. Each point of Morale buys 1 life point and every 4th point gives an extra life point so you get +5 life for +4 morale. On top of that, every 20 morale gives 1% spell resistance to all mana colors.
My goal is to reach 200 morale at L50 which gives +250 life points and 10% resistance to all mana colors (which is really handy if you do Multiplayer). If you buy the citadel building that gives +5 morale and chose the knightly orders path that gives +3 morale you only need to spend 192 of your 200 points on morale leaving 8 points to improve other skills.
Everything else you improve by buying skill points. You can buy 100 pts at L50 to improve your other stats.
All other skills work on the following table:
Code:
Skill Level Match 3 Return
0 3
1 4
8 5
20 6
50 7
You can see the sweet spot is at 8 points. So tyically I put 8 points into 4 mana colors which costs 24 of my 100 points (I have 8 left over ones from my leveling up). That leaves 76 to distribute how I see fit. I'll tyically buy 10 cunning and take a giant rat mount (for more cunning from the mount but a mount that increases Green Mana like the Giant worm is also good for more Green mana capacity). The rest I load into Green Mana. So I'll end up with something like the following at L50 (there are a few more skills you get in game from completing quests):
Green 60 - (or 85 if you have a L50 Giant Worm mount)
Red 8
Yellow 8
Blue 8
Battle 8
Cunning 10
Morale 200
I then get an Unholy Lance (+1 damage per 4 green mana) and since I put about 60 points into green I can have a max of 80ish which means up to +20 damage when my reserve is full.
I also use the Elven Helm because it gives +1% resistance per green mana over 5. This means I can often reach 80+% resistance to green mana spells (if I forge an item with more green resistance on it or use the Giant Worm I can reach 100% resistance). This makes the character immune to Death Gaze, DeathBringer, Swallow Whole, Flaming Skulls plus a host of other deadly spells because they all requre green mana. Your even immune to mana drain spells (again requires green mana). Not to mention the 10% resistance to every other mana color I possess which makes casting spells against the Knight very problematic.
Best of all the massive amounts of life points means I typically have 2-3x the number of life points as the monsters. Even in the final battle with Bane, I had as much life (400) as he did. If you decide to add in the ultimate
troll ring, your just that much harder to kill. But in general, you don't need that ring because you have so much life that the enemy would need to match skulls twice as often to actually win.

P.S. You can build an Earth Druid that is very similar. You put your skill points into Green Mana and buy Morale at the temple and eventually reach +100 morale from temple buys (you can cut off Green mana at around +100 and use level up skill points/different mount to increase your other stats)
