View Full Version : Some questions - new Warlord creation

Greetings everyone!

Couldn't find any guide that would explain what options one will have in the game (I'm talking about Warlords Online here), so I've created a new warlord, just to try it out.

1. If I decide to change my race will I have to create a new forum account? Or can I somehow delete the old Online-Warlord and re-create him, or make a new one under my forum account? I usually use always the same nick for online gaming (e.g. for the forum), but would like to try other races in future (though I've read here somewhere that there is no difference between them, apart from the cost of the troops... still the wish to play another race is more of an RP- element really). And you get a different looking shield :-)

2. Do you plan to give each race special abilities anytime in the future (like you wrote in the description), or will it always stay just a visual/RP-play element?

3. What is the result of a Stand Off after an attack? In the LATEST STATS I see that someone has won the region, got a +1 (to fame I believe?), so same results as a victory... Perhaps it's just my English (not my native language) and I don't understand the real meaning of the word in this case...

4. Just to clarify: the "+Number" (victory) you get after a battle as well as the "-Number" (defeat) are Fame points or what? If so, then can you get a negative fame count?

5. You do get some money after a victory, right? I forgot to check my overall gold amount, played some games and recruited troops afterwards... If so, How much money do you get and what does the amount depend on? The number of the troops attacking/defending/defeated, or perhaps something else?

6. Defending a region means that more troops are needed to attack it? If so, then what sense does it make for me as a new player to assign some troops for defending while there are uber-warlords with insane (compared to me and everyone below a certain lvl) amount of money and troops, who wouldn't really care to send a few more troops into battle, or do I miss some important point here?

7. What's the difference between Victory and Total Victory?

8. According to the log on the "MyWarlord" page I fought 6 battles (in the list where you see more info about the battles, like the region where it took place etc.) but at the top of the same page the "Overall" battle number is shown as 1. Is this a bug? Or does the number get updated sometime later?

After playing for a while I can answer some of the questions, too bad there is no tutorial or FAQ for new players as with many other games, BUT since this is a new project and has not the highest priority it's understandable. So let's see:

1. If I decide to change my race will I have to create a new forum account?

No, you can change your race from within your "Warlords Online" account by going to the tab RACES, selecting another race and clicking JOIN. You will lose all your current troops though. Your Account name stays the same - it's bound to your forum account. I haven't tried it, because I want to stick to the Swarm ATM, but I guess you won't lose anything else (like your fame, gold, or battle records, though I can't say for sure)...

3. What is the result of a Stand Off after an attack?

By hovering with your mouse over the different colored parts of the wheel (assuming you added some troops) you will see which impact each result will have. Upon a Stand Off you lose less troops, but gain nothing. Just see for yourself.

4. Just to clarify: the "+Number" (victory) you get after a battle as well as the "-Number" (defeat) are Fame points or what? If so, then can you get a negative fame count?

You get only +1 Fame after a victory or a total victory (always +1?), no negative fame after defeat. Not sure about Stand Off though (nothing I guess).

5. You do get some money after a victory, right?

No, you don't. But it would be a nice feature to have. Perhaps even with additional options to SACK, LOOT or PILLAGE a region like we did with castles in the Warlords series of games, that will result in different outcomes for your race in that region. Introducing the Warlords IV Race-Wheel once more... Having races that oppose each other. A fame increase when attacking the hated race, more money, or the ability to both get money from looting a region AND increasing your troops there (normally if you loot a region from a friendly race you should have some negative effects as well). There are many things that can be implemented, depends on what the dev's decide...

6. Defending a region means that more troops are needed to attack it?

No, I thought at first that defending a region would update the SUPPORT for your troops in a region, thus making it more difficult for another races to capture it, or making them lose more troops upon victory or defeat... But with defending you can get only two things:
1 - raising the ranking of your race at the given region. Right now, most regions are at 90+ rankings for the most played races, but imagine that in the early stages of the game after winning a region for your race you have a count of 50 there, whereas other races are below 35 and to keep the distance from them you raise your ranking in order not to lose it...

2 - Upon a Total Victory, besides raising your ranking you gain a level for your warlord. Not sure if it has any effect on the gameplay, I guess it's more for the ladder and stats, but still...

7. What's the difference between Victory and Total Victory?

See the answer for question #3.

8. According to the log on the "MyWarlord" page I fought 6 battles (in the list where you see more info about the battles, like the region where it took place etc.) but at the top of the same page the "Overall" battle number is shown as 1. Is this a bug? Or does the number get updated sometime later?

Dunno about this one, but my guess is that it's related to latency, server overload and that stuff. The updates happen a bit later I suppose.

As for #2 - only the dev's will know. Any info on that?
