Warlords Battle Cry 3 Display

The problem I am having is when I run battlecry the game loads for a second and then shuts down. It at least loads the Pointer before it crashes. I have tried all kinds of thing such as:

The game automatically installs to version patch 1.0.3
rolling back vid driver
using driver cleaner
reinstalling from the CD (legal working copy)
putting resolution in 1024x768 16 bit
putting resolution in 800x6000 16 bit
using the nvidia control panel and not using it

System Specs are:
Pentium D Processor 2.6
512 MB Ram
GeForce 6200 LE PCI-Ex
Intel Chipset 915PL (no integrated video)


however I did notice that there was a startup log file in mydocuments warhammer battlecry and at the very very bottom it says failure to load items or somthing. If it was a bad install then wouldnt i get an error or something, even so i still have reinstalled battlecry 3 several times.

I have done these things several times and I cannot seem to put my finger on it.

one last thing could be uninstalling directx and rolling it back but I dont believe i should have to do that because other games like SupCom and Warhammer 40k DoW work perfectly.

Okay i had the same problem and in about 30 minutes i've found the fix for both of us. Seems that we're having problems with bink videos. I've figured it out from the startup.log. This is where my startup.log ended:

Initializing the font system
Font system successfully initialized
Initial file caching
Defining font families
Performing state initialization
Task switching is OFF
Video System Initialized
Particle Paths Initialized
Game Timer Initialized
Options Data Initialized
Ability Data Initialized
Attitude Configuration Initialized
Item Manager Initialized
Timer Event Initialized
Enter through main menu...
Play video first

So it stopped here. Then i've figured it out. If the game has no video to play it'll just go further. So i've deleted the Videos dir from the gamedir and the game started. Try the same, and maybe it'll work for you too. Good luck!!!

Then your hero model is not compatible with spell animations, this happens if you change your hero model to a non-hero creature like a sheep and cast a spell.
